INNOVATION & IMPACT
The Wildfire Crisis in BC

In 2025, British Columbia has endured an alarming surge in wildfire activity. With over 46,000 acres burned and dozens of active fires still threatening communities, the province continues to grapple with the long-term impacts of climate-driven extremes. Fires like those in Knox Mountain Park and the Cariboo region have forced evacuations, endangered wildlife, and strained emergency response systems. The season has extended well into the fall, with dry terrain and high winds keeping danger levels elevated across much of the province.

This crisis isn’t just seasonal — it’s systemic. And it demands more than reactive measures.
